Mission: The Devil’s Playground (Redstone III)
There is two types of ground on this planet, the low ground and the high ground. The challenge in this mission is to be able to move all your units and structures off the low ground to the high ground (or into the air) every 4-5 minutes when the planet’s low level is engulfed in lava. This is easy enough since the game will give you 30 seconds notification which is about 2-3 times the needed time to move your units to safety. The second challenge is to continually move around the map with a Command Center, a small offensive force and a group of SCVs.
The complete this mission and all its achievements at once make sure you read the details of them below; otherwise you’ll kill the Brutalisk with Marines like me and have to redo the mission. You’ll want to focus on filling 1 bunker on each side of your starting base. Place 4 marines in each and keep an SVC near each one to repair them. This will be enough to fend off attacks.
Build up a group of Marines (24) and about a half dozen Medics to keep them alive. This group should be sufficient to control the entire map (upgrade them at your Engineering Bay). As your group shrinks, refill its ranks with fresh Marines & Medics. The Reapers you meet on the battlefield will be enough to collect the resources found on pillars around the map. There are a lot of resources around the map, you should clear the whole map if you have time to speed up the mission.
As you deplete resource fields move your Marines, Medics and Reapers to clear the next one, then follow with your SVCs and then fly in your Command Center.
The Devil’s Playground
This mission is completed by finishing the mission and killing the Brutalisk found in the south west corner.
Red Lobster
About 20-30 seconds before the lava surges, pull the Brutalisk off the high ground into where the lava will rise. Once the lava rises on him it will kill the Brutalisk almost instantly.
Reaper Men
These Reapers will show up in the upper right of the map a few minutes into the game.
