Mission: Welcome to the Jungle Achievements

Welcome to the Jungle – Bel’shir – Hard Mode

The goal of this mission is to extract a gas called Terrazine from 7 of about 15-20 locations on the map. The mission is relatively easy if you ignore the achievements. Simply build an army of Marines, Medics and Goliaths and move from one terrazine location to the next. Once you start extracting it with an SCV the Protoss opponent will attack that location with a medium sized group, be prepared to defend your SCV.

The Mission gets a lot more difficult when you attempt to complete any of the following achievements (instructions below):

Welcome to the Jungle
Complete all mission objectives on any difficulty.
It’s So Easy
Prevent the Protoss from capping a Terrazine Node in the mission on Hard difficulty.
Appetite for Destruction
Prevent the Protoss from destroying an SCV on Normal difficulty or higher.

You can complete all 3 achievements in a single attempt. However, the first time you do the mission you should focus on Welcome to the Jungle which requires you to locate and collect the Protoss Relics located around the map. The first one is just north of your starting location, the second one is on the left side of the map, centered north and south; the third one is located and defended by Protoss in the upper right of the map. On your first run you should collect these relics first and then collect the Terrazine resources to complete the mission.

To earn the second two achievements you must keep all your SCVs alive throughout the entire mission and you must prevent the Protoss from capping any Terrazine nodes. I did this by building a 30+ total units of Marines, Medics and Goliaths. I had tried using Reapers to quickly defend Terrazine caps but they were too weak to go in and kill the Protoss before getting in range of the capping unit.

After each time you prevent the Protoss from capping a terrazine node, this is your opportunity to extract any other terrazine node. You don’t want to do this at any other time as it will make it likely that the Protoss tries to cap another node before you are done; thus splitting your army in two to prevent them from capping. The final cap I made was north of the Protoss mini base, I did all 3 nodes together. This sped up the completion and prevented me from having to defend more caps.

When you try to prevent the Protoss from capping a Terrazine node, make sure you single target the unit capping to ensure they die first.
