Tactical Command Challenge – Gold Achievement
In this challenge, you must defend 3 Supply Depots during 3 separate rounds. In each round you will be given several groups of units that you must assign to defend Supply Depots. In order to earn the Gold achievement you’ll need to survive without losing more than 10 units throughout all 3 rounds. A little bit of unit control and proper assignment will make this achievement easy enough to complete on your first or second try.
Round 1
In round 1 you will want to send your Hellions to defend against the Zerglings. Spread them out to avoid losing any and be ready to move any of them to the rear if they look like they might die (this applies to all the units throughout this Challenge). Send your Siege Tanks to the Banelings, since their AoE damage will take them out from a far distance. Finally, use your Marines and Medivacs to defend against the Mutalisks. The Medivacs will keep most of the Marines alive.
Round 2
Your Marauders are very effective against Roaches, and should be able to take them all out without losing any. Your Marines can do a lot of damage to the Ultralisk, but you’ll have to keep them rotating so that they never take more than a few hits of damage. They can run faster than the Ultralisk after they use their Stimpacks, so you can take turns kiting it. The Hydralisks are very vulnerable to the AoE damage of the Siege Tanks, so send them to defend against the Hydralisks.
Round 3
In round 3 you will be able to send 2 types of units to each Supply Depot, but there will also be two types attacking. Use your Vikings, in flight mode, to take out the Broodlords in the top right. Have them attack as soon as the round begins. Use the Hellions to finish off the Zerglings. The Siege Tanks and Marauders will take out the Hydralisks and the Roaches on the right side. Thor and the Ghost can be used to clear the bottom. Use the Ghost’s sniper ability to take out a few Mutalisks.
